There are times in all of our lives when we've felt defeated by life's setbacks like illness, family conflicts, financial loss, or the death of a loved one. Even worse, these challenges, often make us feel that we are alone and without the emotional or physical support we need to overcome them. If we are not careful, we can begin to blame ourselves, identify ourselves as failures, fall into despair, or even suffer depression.
Whether or not we contribute to the bad experiences we face from our life choices, they do not have to define our entire lives. The key is to view our losses or setbacks as lessons and opportunities for growth and comebacks. Remember that every life is filled with both potholes and smooth roads. The Good News in overcoming setbacks is found in the Book of Romans, Chapter 8, Verse 37, which says, “In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
To overcome life’s most serious challenges, first, do not identify yourself as a failure but as a person facing a failing situation. Second, ask God, who is All-Powerful, All-Sufficient, and who loves you unconditionally, to take control, not only of your life but also of your circumstances. And finally, look for the lessons in your setback that can help you begin to plan your comeback. The Good News is that you are "more than a conqueror" and can overcome setbacks in your life.
That's today's good news!
