Almighty God, maker of heaven and earth, and all who live, we bow before you in humble adoration of your awesome power and excellent greatness. We thank you, Lord, for blessing us to live in a nation where the rule of law; justice in the courts; and free, fair, and safe elections still reign over lawlessness and authoritarian rule. We thank you for those who not only dreamed of a nation where the ballot was available to all, but who, by their blood, sweat, tears, and their “good trouble“ sacrifices, make it possible for every American to vote in the 2024 election for the kind of leaders they want to move our nation forward.
O Lord, our God, against the threat of political violence and voter intimidation, we call on you to expose every diabolical plot, deceptive scheme, and evil plan to restrict the precious freedom to vote for our most vulnerable citizens —the elderly, the physically or language disabled, young new voters, and ex-felons who have paid their debt to society. We ask you, Almighty God, to protect every election official, poll worker, poll monitor, poll chaplain, and peacekeeper doing their part during the elections to “let justice run down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream" (Amos 5:24). Strengthen all who work to save our fragile democracy and precious freedoms, like the freedom to vote. Beyond free, fair, and safe elections, we pray, O Lord, that every vote will be counted and certified so duly elected leaders operating with integrity and fairness, might usher in a season of hope and unlimited possibilities for a decent standard of life with dignity for every American. In your mighty, magnificent, and matchless name, we pray. AMEN
